Split Makes Fodor’s Travel GO List for 2018

The annual GO and NO lists of travel destinations have been unveiled today by Fodor’s Travel, with one Croatian city making the GO list.
The lists provide comprehensive travel guidance for 2018, highlighting can’t-miss spots that should be on every traveler’s radar while identifying places to skip in the upcoming year.
This year’s GO list consists of 52 destinations, with the Dalmatian city of Split making the list at No.4.
“And while most cities would either preserve their history museum-style or bulldoze it, Split has gone with a third option: to spend centuries building and evolving a millennia-old structure to create a thriving metropolis out of an ancient wonder. Diocletian’s Palace is now a vibrant maze of bars and restaurants, shops, and even apartments. Wander the ancient city and learn its vast history or crawl it for its food (definitely do an olive oil tasting at Uje Oil Bar). Eat as many truffles as you can stomach, and then stuff your face with gelato from one of the many, many stands throughout the palace,” Fodor’s editors say.
“Despite all of the recent calamity and horrors – both natural and manmade – this really is a magical world that deserves to be explored,” said Jeremy Tarr, Editorial Director of Fodors.com. “We focused on celebrating and surfacing that wonder as we assembled this year’s lists.”
