Hit HBO series Game of Thrones will be back in Croatia in 2018 to continue filming.
Game of Thrones will return to Dubrovnik to film for the final Season 8, which will not hit screens until 2019, The Dubrovnik Times reports.
Another six months of filming is still required and that will be done in 2018. According to the report, the Game of Thrones production team and some of the cast will be in Dubrovnik in February to shoot the last scenes there for Season 8.
The Dubrovnik Times states that the creators of the show and production crew were spotted in Dubrovnik in November scouting locations around the city.
HBO released an official statement on Thursday announcing the Season 8 finale of Game of Thrones would hit the screens in 2019. Production of this last season started back in October 2017 and will last until August 2018.
Dubrovnik has been used as the location for King’s Landing since Season 2 after Malta was originally used.
According to a study made in 2017, 244,415 tourists visited Dubrovnik between 2012 and 2015 due to Game of Thrones using the city as a filming location. Around 60,000 people have visited the Dubrovnik region annually, solely because the series was shot there.
The analysis says that those motivated to visit Dubrovnik because of Game of Thrones have spent 126 million euros from 2012 to 2015.
