Organisers of next month’s free concert by Scottish rock band Simple Minds in the Dalmatian city of Split expect 20,000 people to turn up.
Simple Minds will play some of their hits like ‘Don’t You’, ‘Alive And Kicking’, ‘Belfast Child’, ‘Let There Be Love’ and ‘Waterfront’ for free to open part of the new Žnjan beach complex on 5 May 2018.
Local rock band Buđenje, who opened for Sting last year at the Pula Arena, will open for Simple Minds in Split.
The concert is put on by the city in honour of the Feast of Sveti Duje and is the first big event on the beach that will soon receive a complete makeover.
It is not the first time that Simple Minds have played in Split. Eight years ago the band sold out Spaladium Arena, with singer Jim Kerr taking the stage with a Hajduk Split scarf on.
Formed in Glasgow in 1977, Simple Minds were one of the most successful bands to come out of Scotland with achieving five UK number one albums during their career and selling over 60 million records worldwide.
