“I have not landed as many punches in my whole career as I did tonight,” joked Hrgovic after the fight, before adding.
“Unbelievable how many (punches) he can take. The whole time he looked as if he was about to be knocked down, but there was no way he would fall. I wanted to finish his off as soon as possible so I forced it a bit and forget about tactics and technique. He is a brave guy. I have never fought such a brave boxer,” the Croatian said about his opponent who was unbeaten until tonight.
Hrgovic (25) won his first three fights in his career with knockouts and the fourth on points. The 6’6” Hrgovic is on the books with German promoters Team Sauerland and has looked the goods in his first five pro fights. He has had knockout wins against Tom Little, Pavel Sour, and Raphael Zumbano Love.
Many critics believe the Croatian, who won bronze at the 2016 Olympics, has the size and skill to become one of the best heavyweights in the division.
Hrgovic’s next fight will be his first professional fight in Croatia. On 8 September he will have a title fight at Arena in Zagreb.
