It was déjà vu for Croatian fans on Saturday night as Ivan Rakitic’s final penalty to the keeper’s left sent fans ecstatic around the nation.
Croatian fans in Croatia and around the world were again taken on a rollercoaster of emotions on Saturday night but it was pure elation and joy as Rakitic sent Croatia into the last four at the World Cup.
There were unreal scenes again on Zagreb’s main square where thousands of fans gathered to watch the match. Flares, songs, drink and tears of joy again flowed.
“Unbelievable!!. I can’t believe that we have again won in the same way. We are in the semi-final again!! I am crying! We will party all night,” said a fan before being mobbed by other fans on the main square in Zagreb.
