Record 11.1 Million Tourists Visit Croatia in 2018

A total of 11.1 million tourists have visited Croatia so far in 2018, which is 6% more than last year, the Croatian National Tourist Board said on Monday.
According to data from the eVisitor, 11.1 million tourists visited Croatia from 1 January – 31 July 2018. This was 6% more than during the same period last year and the most ever in the first 7 months of any year.
A total of 56.3 million overnight stays were recorded in the same period, which was also 6% more than the record year of 2017. Foreign tourists made up 9.8 million of the total arrivals and 49.8 million of the overnight stays.
The most overnight stays in July were recorded in Istria, followed by the Split-Dalmatia, Zadar and Dubrovnik-Neretva regions.

It was not just the coast which recorded growth in the number of tourists. Zagreb saw 597,000 tourists, up 9% from last year. The next highest was in the Karlovac county, followed by Osijek-Baranja and Međimurje.
Germans were once again the largest group of tourists in Croatia in July with 10.5 million overnight stays. Slovenians (6.1 million) were next, followed by Austrians (4.3 million), Poles (3.5 million) and Czechs (3.2 million).
When it came to accommodation, private accommodation led the way, followed by hotels and campsites.
Rovinj
The most popular destinations in July were Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Poreč, Split and Medulin.
In July alone there were 4.6 million tourist arrivals and 31 million overnight stays, which was 2% up from July 2017.
