Borna wins the battle of the rising stars
No. 20 seed Borna Ćorić (22) continued his good form of 2018 in New York on Friday night beating rising star Daniil Medvedev under lights to move into the round of 16 at the US Open.
The Croatian put away the Russian in straight sets, winning their third round match 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 in just over two hours.
Ćorić would hit 8 aces in the victory which was made comfortable with some forceful baseline play which drew errors from the Russian.
“I was very nervous coming into the match, I’ve lost in the third round many times,” he said. He also said about his Wimbledon loss to Medvedev: “It was a different surface which I didn’t like the most,” he said. “I tried to learn from that match and saw my mistakes and kind of corrected it.
