Scandinavian people are generally very active and tend to want to keep being active whilst on holiday, it is no surprise that fitness tourism is a fast-growing segment in Sweden and throughout Scandinavia.
This summer Fitness Travel launched a fitness tourism package for guests on the Croatian island of Hvar at Lost Villa. The fitness/tourism camps started in Gdinj on Hvar in May and run through until early October.
This week Lost Villa had a special guest teaching classes, the world record squat holder Isabella Von Weissenberg.
“Most big tour operators nowadays offer destinations with different profiles such as running, swimming or in our case Powerlifting, Olympic lifting, gymnastics and functional fitness,” Per Selander from Fitness Travel says, before explaining why Hvar was chosen as a location.
“We chose Hvar because of the beautiful surroundings and its nature. Our 200 m2 gym-area is situated by the sea and has the most beautiful atmosphere. Many of our guests swim home from their session to their accommodation.”
A typical day at Lost Villa starts with a short walk to the gym followed by a group session and a morning workout in our Eleiko-equipped gym (Eleiko is a certified supplier of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), and sole VIP Championship supplier since 2009).
After the workout participants go for a swim to cool off and then have lunch together. Lunch and dinner are served by chefs and is served in the social area. In the afternoon everyone meets up again for a snack in the fitness bar where fruit, protein bars, raw food, chia-puddings, sparkling wine and much more are served.
Guests will typically work out twice a day and then spend their time at the beach or in the fitness bar in between their workouts socialising.
Lost Villa has an outdoor gym and beautiful apartment houses which can accommodate 40-50 people situated on the beach.
“We target all age groups and mostly people who are training at home; typically guests are doing CrossFit, powerlifting, fitness, Olympic lifting, gymnastics or other similar activities at home. They want to keep doing that on their vacation,” Selander explained.
