UEFA Europa League: Dinamo Zagreb remain unbeaten after coming from behind in Slovakia

Dinamo Zagreb remain unbeaten (HNS)

Dinamo Zagreb has come from behind to beat Slovakian side FC Spartak Trnava in the UEFA Europa League clash in Trnava on Thursday night. 

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Nenad Bjelica’s side scored twice in the second half to maintain their 100% record in the Europa League. 

Dinamo made a bright start and was the dominant side in the opening half-hour with Mario Gavranović having a goal disallowed Mislav Oršić failing to capitalise on a chance. 

As in so many matches, with their first real chance of the game, FC Spartak Trnava would take the lead after a backpass was intercepted by Ali Ghorbani who would poke the ball into the back of the net. 

Oršić went close again but the home side luckily went into the break 1-0 up. 

Dinamo carved out another good chance in the 52nd minute and it looked like they would equalise when Oršić’s shot beat the FC Spartak Trnava keeper but somehow Matej Oravec’s knee would deflect the ball out for a corner.  

Dinamo finally got the goal they had deserved in the 64th minute when Gavranović slotted home from four metres out.

Dinamo would take the lead with 13 minutes left when Oršić found the back of the net with his second attempt after good work from Gavranović. Dinamo deserved their win with 15 shots to 8 and 60% possession. 

Dinamo is top of Group D with 9 points and looks certain to qualify for the next stage. Dinamo meets FC Spartak Trnava at home in Zagreb on 8 November in their next match.
