31 January 2019 – Hajduk Split’s Croatian youth international Ante Palaversa has signed for English Premier League club Manchester City, the club announced on Thursday.
Palaversa arrived in Manchester on Monday and underwent a medical on Tuesday before signing a deal with the club. He will be loaned back to Hajduk Split until the summer of 2020 with a clause that Manchester City can return him from loan in January 2020.
After signing the contract, Palaversa returned to Split.
“I am a Hajduk kid, playing at Poljud was always a dream of mine, and after everything, I am happy that one of the biggest clubs in the world has recognised the work of the Hajduk Academy. Thanks, Manchester City for showing faith. A lot of hard work awaits me. I have not shown all I can do and I hope that playing for Hajduk I can justify the faith in me shown by the English champions,” Palaversa told Hajduk.hr after returning to Split.
Palaversa, who is captain of the Croatia U-19 team, had been a Manchester City target for a while. He made his first team debut for Hajduk Split last summer in the UEFA Europa League qualifier.
Palaversa has developed greatly over the past few seasons, earning him a first team spot. He is already rated in Croatia with many considering him to be a future senior national team representative.
No financial details of the deal were revealed by the club.
