Karabatic Arrested for Match Fixing in France

France’s gold medal winning handball star Nikola Karabatic has been arrested in France on suspicion of match fixing.

The half Croatian, who plays for the Montpellier club in France, was taken into custody after being accused of being involved in a mayor betting scandal. The accusations stem from May this year when Karabatic’s club Montpellier, who had already won the French Championship, played against Cesson-Rennes in the 24th round of the championship in a game that meant little.

The odds for Rennes were a massive 45-1 and they ended up winning the match 31-28. French media report that Karabatic, who is one of the best handball players in the world, was arrested on Sunday along with two team-mates.
