2 more restaurants in Croatia awarded Michelin stars

28 February 2019 – As of today, Croatia now has five restaurants with a Michelin star.

On Thursday, it was announced that Noel in Zagreb and Draga di Lovrana in Lovran met the strict criteria and became the fourth and fifth restaurants to receive the honour of a Michelin star in Croatia. 

Noel is a relatively new, fashionable restaurant in the capital Zagreb with an international-style decor and a “chef’s table” in a corner of the dining room with a view of the kitchen.

“A fashionable restaurant with soft lighting and trendy, internationally inspired furnishings, where guests can enjoy exciting, colourful cuisine prepared by the owner-chef. The delicious modern and creative dishes served here are accompanied by a selection of Croatian, French and Italian wines carefully chosen by the sommelier-partner,” Michelin inspectors noted.

Draga di Lovrana is a place of mysterious stories and enchanting views. The hotel and restaurant are located on the edge of the reef, so the combination of the island and the sea creates a particularly beautiful feeling, and the view is impressive.

“The chef prioritises locally sourced produce in recipes which are balanced and of the highest quality, creating modern, imaginative and highly memorable dishes. Breathtaking location, with views from the dining room and outdoor terrace, plus a choice of attractive guestrooms,” Michelin writes.

Commenting on the new Michelin star restaurants was director of the Croatian Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić. 

“Croatian restaurants prove that our gastronomy scene meets very demanding international quality criteria but also that we are increasingly being recognised in the world. This is also a strong incentive for further development and promotion of this segment and I am confident that the destinations and the chosen restaurants will be able to make use of the acknowledgments and recommendations in their further positioning on the market.”

Monte in Rovinj, Pelegrini in Šibenik and 360 in Dubrovnik all kept their Michelin star status.

Pelegrini recieved its star last year after being named Croatian Restaurant of the Year for the last three years.

Set inside Dubrovnik walls, above the port, surrounded by beautiful architecture, Restaurant 360 is famous for its Mediterranean specialties.

Monte in Rovinj was the first restaurant ever in Croatia to be awarded a Michelin star.
