New luxury resort ‘Tesla’s Nest’ to open in Lika

5 March 2019 – Works are well underway on a new luxury tourist resort in Croatia’s Lika region.
The Tesla’s Nest resort, named after Nikola Tesla who was born in the Lika area in Smiljan, will open later this year on an artificial lake near Lovinac ahead of the winter season.
The 15 million euro investment will employ around 70 people who will work 10 months of the year as the resort will attract tourists in all seasons.
Tesla’s Nest resort will feature 72 wooden villas, glamping domes and tree houses spread over 13 and a half hectares of land. All cars inside the resort will be electric. Daily rental of the the villas and little houses will range from 400 to 3,000 euros.
The resort will also have two restaurants, in the forest and on the lake, a bar, wellness, pool, saunas, jacuzzis and more.
Lovinac is surrounded by 7 national parks in the area as well as 3 nature parks and is around 65 km drive to Zadar airport.
“The opening of the resort will create conditions for employment in the area for people and also give opportunities for small businesses,” said Lovinac mayor Ivan Miletić.
Croatia’s Minister of Tourism Gari Cappelli says projects like this helps Croatia position itself as year-round destination.
“We have reached a level now around 20 million tourists a year, if we want a million or so more then we need to target all year round tourism in continental parts, in health tourism and projects like this in Lovinac,” Minister Cappelli told HRT.
The resort is being opened by Croatian hotelier Goran Štrok who operates hotels in Dubrovnik, Rijeka and Zagreb.
