Filming for ‘The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’ moves to Rijeka

25 April 2019 – Filming for the Hollywood movie ‘‘The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’ has moved from Rovinj to Rijeka on Croatia’s northern Adriatic coast.
The first scenes for the sequel to the 2017 film ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ were shot late last night in Rijeka on the city’s markets. Filming continues today at the same location.
Salma Hayek (52) was spotted filming scenes speeding through the Rijeka streets in a Range Rover. Scenes will also be filmed at a number of other locations around the city, including on Theatre Square and Zagreb, Vatroslav Lisinski streets, 24sata reported.
On Friday, the complete film crew will head to 128. Brigade of the Croatian Army Square and Hotel Bonavia to shoot more scenes. Some streets around the city will be closed for traffic because of the filming.
Whilst Hayek and co-star Samuel Jackson are still on set, it seems that Ryan Reynolds has left. All three starts enjoyed their stay in Rovinj, posting rave reviews for fans on social media.
Filming started on 6 April in Rovinj and was scheduled to last 49 days in Croatia until the end of May. Other locations selected for shooting along with Rovinj and Rijeka included Zagreb and the Karlovac surrounding regions. Croatia plays the roles of ‘Italy’, the Mediterranean climate and Croatia itself in the film.
There are over 220 Croatian film professionals working in production, and more than 760 extras will be engaged. The film is set to be released early 2020
