Dalmatian Tourism Contributes 9% Of Croatia’s Total GDP

A lot is mentioned about how important tourism is to Croatia’s economy, and in particular summer tourism on the nation’s spectacular Dalmatian coast. Well now its impact in 2012 can be measured after statistics were released this week by the Croatian National Bank.
Croatia earned 6.27 billion euros from tourism in a nine-month period in 2012, which was 3.9 percent more than in 2011. Tourism revenue made up 18.9 percent of Croatia’s Gross Domestic Product in 2012, with the main contributor being the region of Dalmatia. The Dalmatian region, which includes popular tourist destinations such as Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar, Korcula and Zadar, contributed half of the total tourism revenue, making up 9 percent of the nation’s GDP, reported Slobodna Dalmacija.
