Best Croatian restaurants of 2019 named

ZAGREB, 11 June 2019 – The best restaurants in Croatia have been awarded at the 2019 Dobri Restorani awards last night at Zagreb’s Esplanade hotel.
The awards, now in their eighth year, are organised by leading Croatian daily newspaper Jutarnji list.
The awards, which were split into four categories – top quality, hotel restaurants, traditional restaurants and creative urban cuisine restaurants – are based on secret votes from 500 top players involved in the Croatian gastro scene, including restaurateurs, chefs, gastro journalists, bloggers and winery owners.
Chef and young chef of the year, as well as best wine friendly restaurant awards were also given out on the night.
The restaurant of the year award went to Boškinac on the island of Pag. Dubrovnik’s 360 restaurant was second, and Draga di Lovrana in Lovren, which was awarded a Michelin star this year, was third.
Konoba Alla Beccaccia in Fažana in Istria was named best traditional restaurant. Terbotz, in Štrigova, Međimurje, was second, whilst Johnson from Mošćenička Draga was third.
In the best quality hotel restaurant category, Zinfandel’s at Esplanade hotel in Zagreb won the award. Alfred Keller at Alhambra on the island of Lošinj was second, and Wine Vault at Monte Mulini in Rovinj was third.
Corto Maltese from Split won best creative, urban cuisine restaurant. Brokenships in Zagreb was second, whilst Bokeria Kitchen & Wine was third.
Dubrovnik’s 360 restaurant won best restaurant with the best wine offering.
Tvrtko Šakota, who opened Zagreb fine dining restaurant Nava this year was named chef of the year, whilst 25-year-old Bruno Vokal from Dubrovnik restaurant 360 won young chef of the year.
Šibenik restaurant Pelegrini were awarded an the Grand Prix excellence award after winning the title of restaurant of the year for the past four years.
