When former Croatia international and assistant coach Robert Prosinecki took over as boss of Turkish side Kayserispor they were in the relegation zone and in deep trouble. On Sunday Prosinecki led them to their 6th straight win, taking them on the verge of qualifying for Europe.
The Croatian has soon become a favourite with the fans after resurrecting the side from the dead when he took over in the latter half of 2012. Their 2:1 win over Mersin on Sunday has propelled them into 5th place in the Turkish league and in contention for a place in the Europa League next season.
Prosinecki, who was one of Slaven Bilic’s assistants when he was in charge of Croatia, was manager at Serbian side Red Star Belgrade before moving to Turkey.
