Close to 240,000 Accounts Blocked in Croatia


At the end of August there were 233,299 Croatian bank accounts blocked, with close over 2 billion euro debt, announced financial agency FINA.

There were 16,490 businesses who had their accounts blocked for up to 360 days with debt totalling just over 1 billion euro, whilst there were 56,903 who had their accounts blocked by more than 360 days.

According to data from FINA, at the end of August 34,717 individual bank accounts, or registered tradespeople, were blocked with 24,929 employees with a total of more than 1 billion euro in arrears.

Unemployment continues to be a massive concern in the country, yesterday 310,975 were officially registered as unemployed, with only 3,418 jobs currently advertised by the Croatian Employment Service.
