Mate Pavić wins Shanghai Masters doubles title

SHANGHAI, 13 October 2019 – Croatia’s Mate Pavić has won the doubles title at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Shanghai.
Pavić has won the Shanghai Masters doubles title on Sunday with Brazilian Bruno Soares after beating defending champions Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo in the final 6-4, 6-2.
The Croatian-Brazilian team ended the Poland-Brazilian combo’s eight-match win streak to lift the trophy after just 69 minutes. Pavic and Soares have won 12 matches together as a team since joining forces this summer.
It was Pavić and Soares’ first final which they reached after beating British pairing of Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski 7-5, 6-4 in the semi-final.
Pavić and Soares earn 1000 ATP Doubles Ranking points and share $408,840 in prize money. Pavić has won 15 titles, including a Grand Slam in 2018 when he won the Australian Open. He also won two mixed doubles Grand Slams (US Open/Australian Open).
