LOT announce new direct flight to Rijeka for 2020

ZAGREB, 22 November 2019 – LOT Polish Airlines has announced that it will launch a new direct service to Croatia starting in 2020. 

Poland’s flag carrier airline announced at the opening of the TT Warsaw Fair that it will commence a new service between the Polish capital Warsaw and Rijeka, on Croatia’s northern Adriatic coast, in 2020, the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) reported. 

“I am convinced that the new direct line from Warsaw to Rijeka will bring all Poles closer to Croatia as an attractive and desirable destination, but also to Rijeka as the European Capital of Culture. Our presence at TT Warsaw is very important as it is a fair attended by all key representatives of the Polish tourism industry,” said Agnieszka Puszczewicz, a representative of HTZ in Poland, adding that Croatia enjoys the status as one of the most popular international destinations among Poles. 

The service will launch on 7 June and operate each Sunday until September 27. LOT will use their Embraer E195 jet for the service. Rijeka is the airline’s  sixth destination in Croatia after Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Pula and Zadar.

TT Warsaw is the largest and most important tourism fair in Poland, which is open only to the business audience during the first day of the event, while the fair is also open to the general public for the remaining two days. 

Last year, the fair was visited by more than 20,000 visitors, who viewed the offer of 450 exhibitors from 53 countries. Once again this year, the Forum of Travel Agents was held, at which the Polish HTZ representation was present with a booth and promotional materials. The forum is the most significant annual meeting of agents and tour operators from all over Poland.  

Rijeka

Almost one million arrivals and more than six million overnight stays from the Polish market to Croatia have been recorded so far this year. Together with Germany, Slovenia, Austria and Italy, Poland is among the top five foreign markets with the highest tourist turnover in Croatia.
