VIDEO: 80’s Star Struggling To Make Ends Meet

In 1983 he made it big when he won the right as Croatia’s representative to represent Yugoslavia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Munich with his hit song “Dzuli”, selling over 800,000 albums, today he is living of the brink of survival, writes Jutarnji list.
Danijel Popovic, who was born to a Montenegrin father and a Belgium mother,made his name in the 1980’s in Zagreb when his hit song made the charts across Europe, selling hundreds of thousands of records at home and abroad.
Popovic has been living in Slovenia for the past 6 years with his wife and the paper reports that he is on the bread line, not even having enough money to attend his parents funeral.
“Danijel and I are not social cases, but we live very basic in Ljubljana, I am being treated for cancer for years now and most of the money goes for that,” said his wife Alexsandra.
