ZAGREB, 24 December 2019 – Croatian president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic extended Christmas greetings on Tuesday to all the Christian faithful in the Homeland and abroad, saying it was a time to share special moments with loved ones and friends.
The president also said Christmas was a ‘feast of the joy of life’ and encouraged people to be more ‘considerate, tolerant and warm‘.
Below is her message in full:
Christmas bears the gifts of goodwill, generosity and love for our neighbour; inspiring with serenity, invoking optimism and arousing a community spirit. Therefore, this is a season for gathering, when we share tender moments with our loved ones and friends.
Let us welcome Christmas in such an ambience – for it is a feast of the joy of life – with delight in our own hearts, while tending to the needy and being committed to one another.
Let us be more considerate, more tolerant and warm, and in this way contribute to making every person feel dignified in our society.
To all the Christian faithful in the Homeland and abroad, I wish a merry and blessed Christmas and all the best in the new year 2020!
