Another milestone for Luka Modric…
Croatia captian Luka Modric brought up his 100th goal of his professional career with an impressive goal with the outside of his foot in Real Madrid’s victory over Valencia in the Spanish Super Cup this week.
Modric’s 100th goal helped Real Madrid to a 3-1 win and secure a spot in the final against Atletico Madrid. It was Modric’s 5th goal this season for Real and the 100th of his professional career, which included stints at Dinamo Zagreb, Zrinjski Mostar, Inter Zapresic and Tottenham, the Croatian Football Federation stated.
He has also netted 16 times for Croatia. He scored his first goal in Croatia’s 2–0 friendly win over Italy on 16 August 2006 in Livorno, just a few months after making his debut.
Since then he went on to score against Andorra, Norway, Austria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Israel, Malta, Greece, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Argentina, Nigeria, and Hungary. One of his most memorable goals in the Croatia shirt was his stunner from outside of the box against Argentina which was shortlisted for the FIFA Goal of the Tournament.
Fans will also remember fondly his opener at EURO 2018 in France against Turkey when his volley found the back of the net. Fans will be hoping for more goals at EURO 2020.
