LOS ANGELES, 30 January 2020 – Popular Croatian-singing Samoan-New Zealanders, Klapa Samoana, will be performing for the Croatian community in Los Angeles on Saturday.
For the 1,048th year in a row, Dubrovnik will celebrate the city’s feast day, Sveti Vlaho, or St. Blaise (Sveti Blaž). The biggest day of the year in Dubrovnik will see thousands take part in traditional processions, flag waving, rituals, singing and performances dating back centuries and the festivity will also be celebrated once again by Croatians in Los Angeles and will be marked with a function this weekend.
The traditional Sv. Vlaho/St. Blaise Dinner/Dance in Los Angeles will be taking place on Saturday, 1 February 2020 with Klapa Samoana flying in from New Zealand to perform. Austin and Christian from Klapa Samoana had a busy 2019 touring around performing for Croatian communities in the United States, Canada and Australia.
The brothers also performed at Maksimir stadium in Zagreb before Dinamo Zagreb’s Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk. Details about the evening below.

Saint Blaise was born in ancient Sebaste, a Rome-run area in Lesser Armenia. He was known as an extremely knowledgeable and charitable doctor who loved to take care of the poor and sick.
After becoming the Bishop of Sebaste he was martyred there in the year 316 being beaten, attacked with iron combs, and beheaded on 3 February. The Festivity of St. Blaise is on UNESCO’s list of the world’s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
