Croatia’s Boris Milosic breaks Guinness World Record for the longest underwater walk

SPLIT, 2 March 2020 – On Sunday, young Croatian free-diver Boris Milosic (23) broke the world record for walking underwater at the pool in Marina Kastela.

Milošić, who is a member of the Split diving club, is the first man to walk 100 meters underwater and thus enter the Guinness Book of Records, Dalmacija danas reported.

“I am very excited, today I will try to set the world record currently held by a Turk, which is 80 meters. Physically all this is not difficult, I need to focus more mentally on what I do,” he said before his successful attempt. 

“First impressions from my first Guinness World Record attempt. I managed to beat the old record by 21m and reach the target distance of 100m, walking underwater. No thoughts = easy beautiful dive. Despite having only days for organisation. We, especially my manager Boris Vrdoljak, managed to set up an event with class,” Boris wrote on Instagram before thanking his sponsors.

Last year, Milosic set a new Bi-Fins diving world record with a distance of 234 metres.

Born in Austria to, Milošić moved to Split at the age of 18. 

“My parents had a weekend home in Rogoznica and we spent every summer there so I fell in love with the sea at the age of 7. And from then on, I somehow decided that I was going to dive.”
