LATEST: Croatia confirms 96 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday

ZAGREB, April 1 (Hina) – The national COVID-19 crisis management team reported on Wednesday afternoon that in the last 24 hours, there had been 96 new cases of infection with coronavirus, bringing the total number to 963.

In the last 72 hours, there were no new coranavirus-related deaths in the country, which means that so far, this infection has taken the lives of six Croatians.

Since the outbreak of the crisis, 7,680 samples have been tested, and 665 tests have been performed in the past 24 hours.

This shows that 12.52 percent of those tested have been positive to COVID-19, Health Minister Vili Beros said.

Seventy three (73) patients have recovered. Currently, 34 patients are on ventilators.

The average age of the Croatians who have tested positive is 48.27 years. Broken down by gender, men account for 53% of the patients.

Beros explained that in Croatia, there were 1.5 COVID-related deaths per a million citizens, while, for instance, in Italy there were 192 deaths caused by the virus per a million inhabitants, in Spain 175 and in Sweden 18 deaths caused by this infection per a million inhabitants.

Currently, 21,071 people are being placed in self-isolation, and of them 1446 are employees in the healthcare system.

Currently, 53 doctors, six pharmacists and ten dentists as well as 44 nurses are among the patients positive to coronavirus.

Leaving one’s place of residence possible only with e-pass as of April 6 – minister

As of April 6, leaving one’s place of residence will be possible only with an e-pass, Minister of the Interior Davor Bozinovic, who heads the national team managing the current crisis caused by the coronavirus, said on Wednesday.

E-passes will be issued for a period of between one to 14 days, depending on the reason why they are issued, Bozinovic told a news conference.

“Should any of the bodies authorised to issue passes be unable to issue an e-pass for a justified reason, that will be done by the Civil Protection Directorate instead,” he said.

He stressed that all passes issued so far in the context of the coronavirus epidemic should be replaced with e-passes by April 5.
