Croatia reports 88 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, 1 death, 12 recoveries

ZAGREB, April 10 (Hina) – In the past 24 hours, 88 new COVID-19 infections have been confirmed in Croatia, 12 persons have recovered and one patient has died, the national civil protection authority said at the daily press conference on Friday.

The total number of COVID-19 patients stands at 1,495, Health Minister Vili Beros said.

The Split fatality was a woman born in 1927 who suffered from numerous chronic conditions. She was a resident of a local nursing home in which the COVID-19 virus has been detected.

The number of fatalities now stands at 21 and the number of patients who have recovered at 231.

The average age of patients is 49 and for the first time, there are more female patients (50.2%).

Beros said 14,612 persons had been tested, including 932 over the past 24 hours, that 34 patients were on ventilators, 343 were hospitalised, 17 more than on Thursday, and that 921 were being treated at home.

Five staff members at Zagreb’s Psychiatric Hospital for Children test positive

Five staff members at Zagreb’s Psychiatric Hospital for Children and Adolescents have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, but none of the children is infected, the city’s civil protection service told a press conference on Friday.

“None of the ten children present in the hospital has tested positive. Fifty-nine persons in the hospital have been tested and five are positive – three cooks, a nurse and a psychiatrist,” the head of the city’s health department, Vjekoslav Jelec, said.

He said that 12 new coronavirus cases had been confirmed in Zagreb, their number increasing from 370 to 382 on Thursday.

No infections in Sisak nursing home

Suspicions about the presence of the novel COVID-19 coronavirus in a nursing home in Sisak, about 50 kilometres southeast of Zagreb, have been dispelled after an asthma patient has tested negative.
