Generali donates €150,000 to Croatian Public Health Institute

ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) – The Generali insurance company has donated €150,000 to the Croatian Public Health Institute (HZJZ) for the repair of its building, which sustained damage in the earthquake that struck Zagreb on March 22, and to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the company said on Wednesday.
The €150,000 was donated in kuna equivalent.
“Croatia was not only hit by the coronavirus pandemic but also by a major earthquake in the Zagreb area, which only served to deepen the feeling of uncertainty. Because of this (…) Generali decided to support the HZJZ in its efforts to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic in Croatia and in repairing the damage sustained by its building in the earthquake that recently struck Zagreb,” said the chairman of the board of directors at the Generali insurance company, Mario Carini.
Pliva company’s donation
The Pliva pharmaceutical company has donated to the health care system azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine for treating patients with the worst cases of the infection, as well as additional quantities of disinfectants to increase the safety of patients and all health care professionals, Pliva said on Wednesday.
The company has also donated disinfectants to numerous services contributing to the fight against the coronavirus in Croatia, such as the Red Cross and the Andrija Stampar Teaching Institute of Public Health, for the best possible protection during their daily activities.
Pliva has also opened a separate bank account for donations made by its employees to support the fight against the coronavirus. Its employees, together with Pliva itself and members of Pliva’s sports association, have raised HRK 150,000 for the country’s fight against the virus.
The total value of raised and donated funds amounts to a million kuna.
