Croatia reports 8 new cases in last 24 hours, hairdressers and other businesses to open tomorrow

Hairdressers to open on Monday in Croatia

ZAGREB, May 3, 2020 – There have been 8 new COVID-19 cases reported in Croatia in the last 24 hours, the national crisis management team said at Sunday’s press conference.

Today’s new cases bring the total tally of cases to 2,096. Since late February, Croatia has conducted 38,084 tests, including 527 in the last 24 hours.

The new cases were reported in the Zagreb, Split-Dalmatia, Virovitica-Podravina and Osijek-Baranja counties.

There have been two more COVID-19-related fatalities in the last 24 hours. A female patient in Split (born in 1924) and a male patient in Zagreb (born in 1950). The current death toll stands at 79.

The number of patients on ventilators is 15. There have been 1,489 recoveries to date and there are currently 231 people in hospital. A total of 18,337 people are in self-isolation. 

2nd phase of easing lockdown starts tomorrow 

The second phase of easing lockdown restrictions begins on Monday, May 4. Relaxation of restrictions in this phase refers to the public health system, which would fully restore its services, with certain exceptions, and also to private clinics.

Other services requiring close contact with clients are also allowed to operate if they comply with special measures in force, and this refers to cosmetic salons, pedicurists, barbers, and hairdressers.

The third phase, starting on May 11, would enable up to ten people to gather in the same place on the condition of physical distancing and shopping centres would be allowed to reopen as would kindergartens and elementary schools from Grades 1 to 4. Inter-city bus routes and domestic air traffic would be relaunched in this phase and hospitality premises would be allowed to open but exclusively providing their services on outside terraces in compliance with epidemiological measures.

Hospitality services in accommodation premises would be allowed as well but only to staying guests, national and nature parks would be allowed to reopen and conditions for e-passes would be expanded.
