Croatian keeper Danijel Subasic ends time with AS Monaco

9 JUNE 2020 – Former Croatia keeper Danijel Subasic and French club AS Monaco have decided to part ways.
The 35-year-old, who was a hero for Croatia during the 2018 World Cup, will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this month after 8 years and over 200 games, the club announced on Monday.
Subasic arrived in Monaco from Hajduk Split in 2012 and won the French first and second division titles with the club. In 2017, Subasic was voted goalkeeper of the year in France, the same season Monaco won the league and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.
The Croatian also managed to score one goal for the club when he hit home a free kick in a 2-1 victory over Boulogne in 2012.
“I congratulate Daniel on his outstanding career in Monaco. He arrived at the beginning of the project while we were still in the second division, and he responded to many challenges to give his contribution to great achievements. He is a great player who showed sporting quality and strength of character. I thank him for his loyalty and everything he has done for Monaco. He will always be welcome,” AS Monaco club president Dmitry Rybolovlev said.
