9 JUNE 2020 – American-Croatian UFC champ Stipe Miocic will square off against Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier for the third time in August, UFC boss Dana White said on Tuesday.
White announced on ESPN show First Take today that Miocic and Cormier will face each other at UFC 252 on August 15.
The fight takes place one year after Miocic won his UFC heavyweight belt back after a 4th round TKO against Cormier at UFC 241. Miocic got his revenge on Cormier after he beat him in their first meeting in 2018.
37-year-old Miocic has the most consecutive title defenses in UFC heavyweight history after defending his belt three times against Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos, and Francis Ngannou.
On Sunday, Miocic took to social media to announce that he was ready to fight after battling an eye injury. UFC 252 is expected to take place in the U.S., though an exact location has not yet been confirmed.

The fight is set to be Cormier’s last before he retires and the 41-year-old took to Twitter after the news was announced.
“This one is for all the marbles. 1-1, both knockouts but great fights, I can’t wait to fight this dude again!! Now it’s time to work as hard as I ever trained,” he wrote.
