One positive among 82 samples tested for COVID-19 after Adria Tour in Zadar

ZAGREB, June 23 (Hina) – Of the 82 samples tested for COVID-19 on Monday after an outbreak at the Adria Tour tennis tournament in Zadar, only one was positive, a five-year-old infected by a family member who attended the event.

The Zadar County civil protection authority said on Tuesday 82 samples were tested the day before and that the only positive was the child who had no symptoms and was self-isolating with parents.

According to unofficial information, the child did not attend the tournament but was infected at a family gathering. Allegedly, one family member hung out with tennis players during the event.

81 persons self-isolating, 4 infected at tennis tournament

Eighty-one persons are in self-isolation, including the five-year-old, and the number of those infected at the tournament has risen to four.

The outbreak in Zadar occurred after Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, who participated, tested positive for COVID-19 in Monaco. Croatian player Borna Coric also tested positive, as did the coaches of Dimitrov and Serbian player Novak Djokovic.

Troicki positive, Djokovic to reveal test result on Tuesday

Serbia’s Viktor Troicki is the third Adria Tour player who tested positive for COVID-19.

“It’s correct that my wife and I are positive. She was tested on Friday, and our daughter and I on Sunday after finding out that my wife was positive,” he told the Belgrade paper Telegraf.

Troicki took part in the Belgrade leg of the Adria Tour before it moved to Zadar. On Sunday, after Dimitrov revealed that he was positive, the final match of the tournament between Djokovic and Russia’s Andrey Rublev was cancelled.

Djokovic was tested in Belgrade and the result will be revealed today.
