Croatian breweries generate HRK 2.3bn in total revenues in 2019, a drop of 17.8%

ZAGREB, Aug 6 (Hina) – Croatian breweries earned HRK 2.3 billion in total revenues in 2019, generating a consolidated profit of HRK 284.4 million or 17.8% lower than in 2018, the Financial Agency (Fina) says.
According to data based on annual financial statements, 92 enterprises engaged in the brewing business in Croatia last year and 44 of them operated at a profit. They had 1,592 workers, or 2.5% more than in 2018.
The average net monthly wage in the brewing industry was HRK 9,596, which was 3.5% lower than in 2018 and 65% higher than the national average of HRK 5,815.
Last year, beer exports reached HRK 253.2 million, down by 18.4% from the previous year, while imports rose by 7% to HRK 414 million.
Among the 92 brewing businesses, the largest revenue, of HRK 1.1 billion, was generated by the Zagrebacka Pivovara brewery, which was also the largest exporter. The company earned a profit of HRK 234.1 million in 2019, up from HRK 233.2 million in 2018. It had 577 employees with a net monthly wage of HRK 11,791.
The second strongest brewery in terms of revenue was Heineken Croatia with HRK 673.3 million and a profit of HRK 64.1 million. It employed 326 workers with a net monthly wage of HRK 12,157.
Fina said that there had been a growing number of craft breweries in Croatia in recent years.
