ZAGREB, Aug 26 (Hina) – The facade lighting design of the GTC Matrix twin office buildings in Zagreb, a project of the Skira company from Pula, has won the Illumination Award of Distinction for extraordinary achievement in lighting design, the Pula-based company said on Wednesday.
There are four category awards and five award levels, of which the Award of Distinction is the highest, and the project of the Skira company, that is, designers Dean Skira and Goran Herak, came first in the outdoor lighting category.
The winners were announced at the 48th Illuminating Engineering Society’s (IES) Annual Conference, this year held in a virtual setting due to the coronavirus.
This year, 685 projects from all over the world were submitted, 288 were recognised for their contribution to the global development of architectural lighting design, and only 11 projects reached the highest level of achievement, the Skira company said in the press release.
The Pula-based company is extremely proud of this success and of being recognised among so many excellent projects by one of the most prestigious and oldest institutions for lighting.
“This award is the result of our multidisciplinary effort on the GTC Matrix project, which is a great example of total design and engineering,” Dean Skira underscored.
He reiterated that the Trick light, which they had designed in 2014, had been adapted for this particular project.
Established in 1906 in New York, the IES is the recognised technical and educational authority on illumination. For over 100 years its objective has been to communicate information on all aspects of good lighting practice to its members, to the lighting community, and to consumers through a variety of programs, publications, and services.
