5 September 2020 – The 5th edition of the festival dedicated to the strudel, ŠtrudlaFest, has got underway in the small Croatian town of Jaškovo, near Ozalj in the Karlovac County.
Thousands of strudels have already been eaten with visitors finding it hard to choose between the classic flavours like apple, cherry and cheese, and some exotic ones with beer, lamb, and carrots.
ŠtrudlaFest started on Friday with the opening of an exhibition, and Saturday was a day for cycling routes, art workshops, but also the construction of a giant straw bicycle by artist Nikola Faller.
Visitors can expect a whole range of events throughout Karlovac County during the festival which ends on 13 September.
Restaurants
28 restaurants in the Karlovac county will prepare strudels at discounted prices until 13 September. Below is a poster of the restaurants taking part, whilst various strudels will be on offer at stands every day in Jaškovo.
Strudel bike route
Visitors can explore Jaškovo, the strudel village, by bike on the 15 km Strudel bike route. The guided tours leave at 11:00 a.m. on the 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th of September.
Ozalj
The city of Ozalj will be the centre of cultural events with an exhibition and a concert, and the Aquatika freshwater aquarium in Karlovac is preparing a special offer for its visitors during the Strudel Fest.
Strudel Fest picnic
Special packages of picnic baskets will be prepared with which you can go exploring Jaškovo and the fairytale Ozalj region. This was popular last year and is back again.
