12th Croatian contingent’s participation in Resolute Support ends

ZAGREB, Sept 12 (Hina) – The end of the 12th Croatian contingent’s participation in NATO’s Resolute Support peace mission was officially marked at Marmal camp in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan on Saturday, the Croatian Defence Ministry said, adding that no Croatian troops would remain in the mission.
TAAC-NORTH commander Brigadier General Ansgar Meyer said he was proud to have had the honour to command the Croatian troops, thanking the contingent for their work and professional approach to their tasks and to members of other nations.
The main flag-lowering ceremony was held at the Ehreinhain Memorial, a monument to all the fallen members of the coalition forces in Afghanistan, where the flags of all nations participating in the Resolute Support mission are flying.

After the anthem was sung, Brigadier General Ansgar Meyer, handed over the Croatian flag to Brigadier Ivica Matanović, the commander of the 12th Croatian contingent.
At the same time, at the other seven locations within the Marmal camp, members of the 12th Croatian contingent lowered other Croatian flags.
