Pejačević Castle and Tuđman Square in Našice to be reconstructed

ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) – Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković will chair on Monday in Našice a meeting of the Council for Slavonia, Baranja, and Srijem, and ahead of the meeting, he marked the start of the reconstruction of Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square in Nasice, which is part of a big cultural heritage restoration project.
This is a project of reconstructing the two buildings of the Pejačević Castle, which will improve the city infrastructure and as such it is a very significant project, said Plenković.
“Since the last session of the Council, held last autumn in Vukovar, we have had a break because of COVID-19 and the elections, and we have signed contracts for an additional 5 billion (kuna) worth of projects, which now puts us at HRK 16.5 billion,” said PM Plenković.
He said that at the session of the Council for Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem in Našice, an addendum to the Development Agreement, worth over HRK 10 billion, would be agreed on.
This means that in our second term we will continue with a policy of support to Slavonia and its counties, the PM stressed.
The cultural heritage restoration project for the big and small building of the Pejačević Castle is worth HRK 99.8 million, of which HRK 75 million are grants from the European Structural and Investment Funds.

The Našice local history museum should get a bigger space, spanning through almost the entire big building of the Pejačević Castle, which will enable the museum to enrich its permanent exhibition and have visiting exhibitions more often.
