Qatar Airways reduces Zagreb service, British Airways to resume operations to the Croatian capital

ZAGREB, 10 October 2020 – From today, Qatar Airways will reduce its services to Zagreb, while British Airways has announced its return to the Croatian capital at the end of this month, Croatian Aviation reports. 

Until yesterday, Qatar Airways was operating its Doha – Zagreb service as planned, three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. As of October 10th, the company will reduce that to just one flight a week, every Friday, while flights on Mondays and Wednesdays have been cancelled.

In the last week of October, from the 26th to 31st, Qatar Airways will not operate the Doha – Zagreb service.

The airline is offering three flights per week in November, but it is already clear that all currently announced flights will not be realised. The question is whether Qatar Airways will keep one flight a week on this route in the coming months, or whether it will, like many other airlines, temporarily withdraw from Zagreb Airport.

Its A320 aircraft has been scheduled on the route, which has a capacity of 132 seats. In last year’s summer flight schedule, the company flew twice a day to Zagreb in the peak season with its 182-seat A321 aircraft, and now, due to very low demand, the route has dropped to just one flight per week.

After the complete withdrawal of Emirates and its partner company flyDubai, Qatar Airways remains the only carrier that connects the Croatian capital with the Middle East.

British Airways to resume Zagreb service

British Airways has announced that from the end of October it will operate again on the currently suspended routes, including the London – Zagreb service.

On September 6 this year, British Airways temporarily canceled the London Heathrow – Zagreb route, leaving the possibility of resuming this route from the beginning of the winter flight schedule.

According to the information from the headquarters of the airline, that will happen soon. British Airways will operate on this route again from Sunday, October 25th.

From that date, British Airways will operate between London and Zagreb four times a week, every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Unlike the previous flight schedule, when British Airways almost always operated on this route in the morning, now all flights, except Fridays, will operate in the afternoon.

On the Zagreb service, British Airways will use its A320 aircraft, which have a capacity of up to 180 seats. Flights are on sale on the company’s official website, and return tickets can be purchased for just over 600 kuna.

British Airways cut off traffic to all Croatian airports in September, except Dubrovnik. The London – Dubrovnik route operates regularly, and according to the company’s current announcements, it should also operate in early November.
