ZAGREB, Oct 15 (Hina) – The travel information, which is provided on an advisory basis by the Belgian Foreign Affairs, indicates that the Croatian region of Istria is currently the most successful region in curbing the spread of coronavirus.
The map included in travel information for departures from Belgium shows that currently, Istria is the only region coloured green, which means that “travel is possible. Hygiene and social distancing rules still apply.”
Commenting on this information, Boris Miletic, the mayor of Pula, the biggest city in Istria, told Hina on Wednesday evening that the whole of the region was facing the coming days in which “all of us have to keep safe our health system.”
The head of the county’s COVID-19 crisis management team, Dino Kozlevac, underscores that residents of Istria have been wearing protective masks in closed spaces for three months, and those efforts are making results.
Last week, in addition to Istria, Varazdin County was among the most successful regions in Europe in preventing the spread of coronavirus, according to data published by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a region in Sweden, four in Poland, two in Bulgaria and two in Italy.
