To mark the 133rd anniversary of Zagrebački električni tramvaj (ZET), the authority responsible for public transport in Zagreb, is once again hosting the “Open Days” event on Saturday and Sunday, 21st and 22nd September, from 9 am to 6 pm.
The event, part of European Mobility Week, ZET will take place for the second consecutive year at the Trešnjevka depot, located at Ozaljska 105 in Zagreb.
This event aims to offer visitors a unique insight into the daily workings of the public transport system, showcasing its rich tradition, cultural and technical heritage, and development.
It will also highlight the efforts of dedicated staff, whose hard work is integral to the smooth running of the transport services.
In the ZET courtyard, buses, trams, and service vehicles will be on display for visitors to explore.
For fans of technical heritage, as well as younger visitors, they have prepared special exhibits showcasing vehicle components and maintenance practices, along with unique vehicle models crafted by a group of dedicated enthusiasts.
Visitors will also have the chance to tour the tram workshop, where the most complex repairs are made, and visit the historic 1936 tram depot on a special tram ride.
To make it easier for visitors to reach the depot and to offer free rides on unique tram models, a special Museum Line 21 will be in operation.
The line will feature the M24 tram, which celebrates 100 years since the start of its production, alongside the legendary TMK101 tram.
On Saturday, trams will run from 11 am to 6 pm, departing every 30 minutes. On Sunday, they will run from 9:20 am to 5:35 pm, also departing every 30 minutes, except for the first two and last two journeys, which will have 60-minute intervals.
The trams will follow a circular route: Ljubljanica – Ban Jelačić Square – Main Train Station – Victims of Fascism Square – Ban Jelačić Square – Ljubljanica, stopping at all regular stations along the way.
Entry to the ZET courtyard will be available via Ozaljska, near the main administration building (east gate). All fellow citizens are invited to join this unique event, as the doors will be open to them.
