The media and food blogging community in Zagreb had the opportunity to experience the menu of the city’s new ‘it place’, hailed as a welcome addition to its capital’s gastronomic scene.

A few weeks after opening its doors on Tkalčićeva Street (Tkalča) in downtown Zagreb, BioMania hosted a number of guests, ranging from vegans to connoisseurs of fine cuisine.

The guests enjoyed the specialities of the BioMania team led by Žaneta Mlinac and Tanja Ratković, and the owners of the restaurant, Dario Kožul and Tomislav Rogalo, were kind enough to share a little more about the offer and preparation of the food.

‘Our commitment to food begins long before it reaches our restaurant. We are committed not only to the organic origin of the food, but also to the people who grow it; we have the pleasure of knowing around 90 percent of our suppliers personally.

The dishes you have tried and those that follow are the result of the efforts of many people who do their work according to the highest standards and different criteria than usual,’ the owners explained.

Zagreb’s BioMania has ambitious plans, and the restaurant on the island of Brač has been recognised by TripAdvisor as being among the top 10 vegan and vegetarian restaurants in the world, which is a testament to the high standards we strive to maintain.

In the months ahead, the team behind this ambitious and thoughtfully designed project is looking forward to announcing other interesting events that will bring lovers of healthy and delicious food to the beautiful Tkalča.

BioMania buys almost all of its fresh ingredients from family farms around Zagreb and Dalmatia.

For the second year in a row, the restaurant won the TripAdvisor “Best of the Best” title and a position among the top 10 vegan and vegetarian restaurants in the world with an excellent 5.0 rating, thanks to its innovative cuisine and flavours that satisfy the appetites of even the biggest gourmets.

As a result, Croatian BioMania has joined the ranks of world-renowned plant-based restaurants such as Peru’s Chia Vegan Kitchen from Cusco, Barcelona’s Blue bar, India’s Time Traveler and Morocco’s Veggie Pause.

Now 100% plant-based and organic omelettes, burgers, gnocchi with truffles, bureks and other seasonal favourites such as sarma and plum dumplings are being prepared at the top of Tkalča, which is why BioMania has been dominating the vegan-vegetarian world scene for years.

BioMania has rounded off its sustainable, healthy and organic story with a list of increasingly popular organic and biodynamic wines, produced in a natural way – without additives and with an extremely low sulphite content.

Zagreb’s plant-based offer has thus become richer, with a total of 80 five-friendly seats at the top of Tkalča, 25 of which are on the terrace, every day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
