Adriatic And Ionian Sea Set To Enter Partnership

The European Commission has accepted a maritime strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. It is the first step in realising a long-term strategy aimed at developing coastal countries.

Representatives from 8 nations which share the Adriatic and Ionian Seas will gather with European Commission representatives in the Croatian capital Zagreb on Thursday for a conference outlining the action plan.

The goal is to provide smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in the region. The strategy is part of an integrated maritime policy of the EU. The Commission states that the Maritime Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian seas can be a starting point for broader macro-regional strategies.
