Advent in Zadar opens on 24 November – what to expect

At the end of November, another edition of Advent in Zadar will begin, where locals and tourists will be able to enjoy themselves with food and drinks, performances by musical artists and various fun events for young and old.
Advent in Zadar, which will take place from 24 November 2022 – 7 January 2023, begins with the lighting of the first Advent candle in the church of St. Šime, after which fun events begin.
At the traditional Christmas fair in the atrium of the Cedulin Palace, it will be possible to view the nativity scene and the appropriately decorated area, which will especially delight the kids. In addition to various animation programs, kids can also expect visits from St. Nicholas on December 6 and St. Luce on December 13 and children’s New Year’s Eve on December 31 in the morning.
The main events will take place outdoors, on Trg pet bunara and Trg Petar Zoranić, where a total of 25 little wooden houses will be arranged selling meat specialties, fritters, mulled wine and various other delicacies.
A special feast is expected again this year on Christmas morning in Zadar, where the party traditionally spreads to the entire peninsula.
The central place of good entertainment will be the stage on Trg Petar Zoranić, which will be opened by Dalmatino with a concert on November 24.
One of the most popular Dalmatian pop ensembles is preparing for a career concert at Arena Zagreb on December 21, and the Zadar audience will be able to hear a month earlier the repertoire they have prepared from their rich twenty-year career.
On the weekends during Advent, after Dalmatino, Marko Škugor, Opća Opasnost, Matija Cvek, Petar Grašo, Soulfingers, Cambi, 4 tenors, and Ivan Zak will perform on the Zadar stage, and on Christmas morning the performers who perform in the TV show A Strana, who last year on the same occasion, Vjeko Kljucarić, Eni Jurišić, Daniel Jurišević and Sabrina Hebiri delighted the people of Zadar.
The Madre Badessa Band, klapa Rišpet and Forum will perform on the Narodni Trg for New Year’s Eve.
As part of “Advent”, numerous restaurants, cafes, shops and museums will provide special prices and a range of dishes as part of the project “Djir po gradu”.
The organizers of the event are traditionally the City of Zadar, the Tourist Board of the City of Zadar and Tržnica Zadar d.o.o. in cooperation and partnership with the Zadar Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Zadar Croatian Chamber of Crafts and the Association of Zadar Restaurateurs.
