Zagreb, 6 August 2024 — Brainframe is a Croatian artisan workshop that produces unique handmade drums.
Over 80% of material used in production comes from local sources while applying sustainable and environment-safe tools and processes.
Brainframe exports to USA, Germany, Austria, Spain and Russia at the same time selling a number of drums in the region.
There are about 50 artisan drum makers of this type in the whole world with this one located in Zagreb manufacturing ready-made and custom-made djembe drums and frame drums.
The djembe is often cited as one of the most popular drums in the world. Originating from West Africa, its versatility, distinctive sound, and the ease with which it can be integrated into various music genres have contributed to its widespread popularity across the globe.
Range of frame drums produced in Brainframe resembles ancient traditional drums like Turkish Bendir, Syrian Mizhar, or North African Tar, made from solid, steam-bent wood and naturally processed skins.
Each drum has an innovative tuning system that allows changing the pitch of a drum in seconds, simply by using a small air pump. Apart from professional musicians, frame drum is used in yoga and sound therapy practices.
Professional artists using Brainframe drums include one of the leading percussionists in Europe Nora Thiele and the king of sevdah and Songlines best European artist Damir Imamović.
American sound therapist Krista Holland, founder of The Sacred Drumming Academy in Oregon has also been using Brainframe’s drums in her practice.
“We are the only professional traditional drum producer in Croatia and the region with our own facility, network of suppliers and production tools. In sales, we use all available digital tools so the ordered product is in delivery within a couple of days”, says Krunoslav Kobeščak, chief maker of the Brainframe workshop.
The company has also been organizing djembe workshops and concerts of renown drum musicians. The next series of djembe workshops will be taking place this autumn.
