Aston Villa sign Croatian keeper Lovre Kalinić

21, December 2018 – English Championship club Aston Villa FC have confirmed the signing of Croatian keeper Lovre Kalinić.
Kalinić (28) was confirmed today as Aston Villa’s latest signing. He will join the club in January 2019 and has signed a deal till 2023.
“We are delighted to be signing someone of Lovre’s experience and quality. He is an outstanding goalkeeper and we look forward to welcoming him when he joins us at the beginning of January,” Villa boss Dean Smith said at a press conference today.
The Croatian has reported been purchased from Belgium club Gent for £7m.

Kalinić became the most expensive Croatian goalkeeper signing in history when he moved to Gent from Hajduk Split in 2016 for €3.1m.
Kalinić, who has 14 caps for Croatia, is now the national team’s number one choice after Danijel Subašić retired.
Aston Villa currently sits eighth in the Championship, three points off the play-off positions.
