Australian Open: Čilić out, Martić reaches last 8 in doubles

Marin Čilić has been knocked out of the Australian Open in the fourth round on Monday.
The Croatian, who beat world No.6 Andrey Rublev in the last round, was beaten by 9th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime from Canada in four sets – 6:2, 6:7 (7), 2:6, 6:7 (4) after three hours and 39 minutes on court.
Čilić started the match like he finished his last one and raced out to a 1-0 set lead. He had set point to go 2 sets to 0 up when he led 6-5 in the second set tiebreak but he failed to convert.
Auger-Aliassime would take the set to level 1-1 then win the third and fourth to advance to the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Croatian Petra Martić continued her good run in the doubles draw.
Martić and her American partner Shelby Rogers reached the last 8 on Monday witn a straight sets win over the 5th seeds Alexa Guarachi from Chile and American Nicole Melichar-Martinez 6-2, 7-6 (2).
In the quarter-finals the Croatian-Americna pair will play the 2nd seeds Shuko Aoyama and Ena Shibahara from Japan.
