Teenage Croatian tennis sensation Ana Konjuh was greeted by family, fans and the media when she returned to Croatia on Sunday from what was unquestionably the best two weeks of her sporting career in Melbourne, Australia.
Konjuh (15) won the Australian Open junior doubles and singles titles to go to the top of the world junior rankings. The young talent, who has become a star overnight in Croatia, was visibly pleased to see father Mario, mother Iris, and sisters Andrea, Antonia and Antea when she landed in Zagreb yesterday. Konjuh was on the same flight back to Croatia as another famous Grand Slam winner, Goran Ivanisevic. The two were seen having a chat at the luggage carousal.
“It has not really sunk in yet what I have achieved. I need to sleep. I am very happy, I had an amazing time in Australia. I want to return to Rod Laver, but as a senior next time,” said Konjuh.
