Award-winning Croatian film screening in Melbourne and Sydney at Europa! Europa Film Festival

Award-winning Croatian film Safe Place will screen at the second edition of Europa! Europa Film Festival.
Directed by Juraj Lerotić, Safe Place is based on a true story about a family in which the mother and one of her sons are trying to help the other suicidal son.
The film was the first Croatian film since the nation’s independence to win three awards at a A category festival. The film won the Heart of Sarajevo at the Sarajevo Film Festival for the best feature film, while the director Lerotić also won the Heart of Sarajevo for the best male role. Safe Place also won multiple awards at the prestigious Locarno International Film Festival.
The film stars director Lerotić, who is also the main actor, with Goran Marković and Snježana Sinovčić Šiškov acting alongside him. Safe Place was also selected as the Croatian candidate for best international feature film at the Oscars.

Safe Place, which is in Croatian with English subtitles, will screen at the Ritz Cinema, Randwick in Sydney and at Classic Cinemas, Elsternwick in Melbourne. You can see screening timings and get tickets here.
Europa! Europa Film Festival will takes place in Melbourne and Sydney from February 16 – March 7 with the screening of 29 exciting films from 24 countries across Europe.
As well as Safe Place, highlights at the second edition of Europa! Europa Film Festival include Cannes-premiering feature More Than Ever, starring Vicky Krieps; the Portuguese drama Remains of the Wind; the 4K restoration of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s beloved Three Colours trilogy; and charming British drama Allelujah.
