Croatia’s former State Attorney Mladen Bajić, European Parliament Members Tonino Picula and Ivo Stier, Father Zvonimir Šagija and Split Rowing Club ‘ Gusar’ all received honours on Monday for their contributions towards a ‘European Croatia’.
According to President Josipović, Bajić played a crucial role at a time when it was being decide whether Croatia will join the EU, saying that his work confirmed that Croatia was a country that was committed to the fight against corruption. Picula and Stier were honoured for outstanding services in promoting the international status and reputation of Croatia as elected members of the European Parliament, while the Split Rowing Club ‘Gusar’, who celebrated its 100 year anniversary, and Zvonimir Šagija were awarded for promoting their respective fields in Croatia and around the world.
