Barcelona’s former Croatian player Goran Vučević, who later became the club’s scout, has revealed that he tried to convince them to buy star midfielder Luka Modrić for four years…
“For four years (when I was working as a scout for Barcelona) I filled Barcelona’s heads with Modrić, but they said that he was too expensive and that they had players of his type in their own academy already,” said Vučević, who was capped by Croatia 4-times.
The current Hajduk Split sports director says that today there are not many players around like Modrić, and that is why club’s are taking younger and younger players these days so that they can create them at the club through their academy.
